2019 Fall Commencement Ceremony

December 19, 2019 - SUNY Korea held the 2019 Fall Commencement Ceremony at the Incheon Global Campus small theater in Songdo. A total of 38 graduates, including 31 undergraduate students and seven graduate students, received Stony Brook University degree with the first graduates from the department of Business Management and Applied Mathematics and Statistics.

More than 200 people attended the commencement ceremony, including Dr. Myung Oh, the honorary president of SUNY Korea (former Deputy Prime Minister), Dr. Imin Kao, the Executive Director of SUNY Korea Academic Programs, Dr. Matthew Whelan, the Vice President for University Enrollment Strategy and Relationship Development at SBU, and Dr. Joseph Mitchell, the chair of AMS department at SBU.

Dr. Myung Oh said for congratulatory remark, "I am confident that you will be able to overcome the challenges with the knowledge, wisdom, passion, and confidence learned at SUNY Korea and Stony Brook University."

Dr. Imin Kao delivered a congratulation message that "the graduates of SUNY Korea receive the same prestigious degree as the home campus at Stony Brook. We are very proud of your successful completion of the four-year undergraduate program."

SUNY Korea graduates have entered well-known graduate schools such as Syracuse, Seoul National University, Pohang University of Science and Technology, as well as getting jobs in renowned companies such as Google, Facebook, LG, Hyundai, Celltrion, and Nexon.

SUNY Korea is the first American university in Korea, established in 2012, as one of the Korean government's national projects with both undergraduate and master's degrees.
