Career Build-up School #2

SUNY Koreaㅣ2018-10-15 14:36

On October 5, 2018, the Career Center hosted the second Career Build-up School workshop for this semester, from 3 pm to 6 pm. It was a valuable time for the small group of students, who received professional advice and coaching from Ms. Jihyun Kang, the CEO of Desk M.

Kang presented a lecture full of practical advice for students facing challenges in planning for a career and emphasized the first step of “knowing yourself – skills, likes, dislikes, and values.” She offered the small group of students valuable insights she gained after changing her career several times from being an MC, marketing salesperson, to an entrepreneur for Desk M.

Currently pursuing the career of announcer for international conferences, Kang’s lecture that included building powerful resumé, interview skills, and public speaking tips was valuable for students preparing for internships and employment after graduation. Passionate to help students, she also developed a time for reviewing students’ resumés.

The Career Center holds “Career Build-up School” workshops twice every semester; once in Korean, specialized for seniors pursuing careers in Korean enterprises, and once in English, opening the workshop to any student interested. Additionally, “Career Design School” workshops held each semester are especially recommended for freshmen and sophomores who are new to exploring careers. “Career Talk To You” events involve lectures of personal experiences from presently working officials.
