Dear Students,

Please see the updated information in highlights regarding the medical documents you need to submit for re-entry.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Due to COVID-19, the South Korean Government has decided to temporarily suspend the Re-Entry Permit Exemption. Therefore, any student with a D-2 visa and valid alien registration card (ARC) must obtain a Re-Entry Permit before they leave Korea and must submit a negative polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test result in order to re-enter the country. Details regarding the mentioned documents are below:

1. Suspension of Re-Entry Permit Exemption and Application for Re-Entry Permit (For D-2 holders)

- Leaving the ROK without a Re-Entry Permit will result in the cancellation of your Alien Registration information, which means you will need to re-apply for a new D-2 visa.

- Re-Entry Permit can be applied online via https://www.hikorea.go.kr/cvlappl/CvlapplStep1.pt?ORGN_CVLAPPL_CD=J04 (See the attached guideline for more information)

- You must complete and attach the 'Consent for PCR Certificate Before Re-Entry' and 'Application Form,' which you can find at https://www.hikorea.go.kr/board/BoardApplicationListR.pt

- The second date box of 'Authorized Period of Re-entry' should be:

  a) If your ARC expiration date is more than 1 year: choose a date within a year

  b) If your ARC expiration date is less than 1 year: choose a date within your expiration date

- Issuance fee: 24,800 KRW (Some exceptions may apply)

- Please check with your airline and country regulations if you need a negative COVID test

- If you have any questions, please contact the immigration center (1345). They also provide English service.

2. Submission of PCR Test Result for Re-Entry (For all regardless of nationality)

- Anyone seeking re-entry into the ROK after departure is required to submit a negative PCR test that is issued within 72 hours prior to the date of departure for the ROK.

- Please keep in mind the test result must be printed either in Korean or English. If you cannot get the document in either language, you must find a translator to translate the document and fill out the Certificate of Translation (attached below)

3. Fall 2021 Quarantine

- If you wish to quarantine on campus during Fall 2021, please note that you must arrive in Korea between August 2 (Monday) and August 6 (Friday), 2021.

- More information regarding quarantine will be sent out soon. Please check your email.

Best regards,
