231 New Students Begin Their Academic Journey at SUNY Korea
SUNY Korea held its Fall 2026 Convocation on Thursday, August 27, welcoming 231 new students to the SUNY Korea community. The incoming Class of 2028 for Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT) and Class of 2030 for Stony Brook University (SBU) are represented by 20 countries around the globe, including South Korea, the United States, France, Mexico, and South Africa. The Convocation, held at the Incheon Global Campus (IGC) Auditorium, brought together new students, their families, faculty, staff, and members of the SUNY Korea community to celebrate the beginning of a new academic journey. The ceremony marked an important milestone for SUNY Korea: welcoming the largest fall incoming class. Among them was SUNY Korea’s first student from Honduras, bringing the total number of nationalities represented by students who have studied at SUNY Korea since its establishment to 73. In addition, 53 visiting students from the Stony Brook University campus in New York and a univeristy in Japan will study at SUNY Korea this semester. With new students and visiting students joining the campus from diverse backgrounds and countries, SUNY Korea expects international exchange and engagement across the campus community to become even more vibrant. Prior to Convocation, incoming students participated in the Fall 2026 New Student Welcome Week, a multi-day orientation program designed to prepare them for university life. Throughout the week, students took placement examinations, participated in campus activities and tours, learned about academic policies and procedures, met with faculty, and completed their course registration. The Convocation served as the culmination of the week and the official welcome of the Fall 2026 incoming class. As the students begin their studies and campus life, they will have opportunities to learn, connect, and grow within SUNY Korea’s diverse and global academic community. With 231 new students joining the campus this fall, SUNY Korea looks forward to supporting the Class of 2028 and Class of 2030 as they embark on the next chapter of their academic journeys. Welcome to SUNY Korea. Welcome home.
