FIT Admission Process & Application Documents

The admission procedure for the Fashion Technology College program at State University of New York Korea is conducted through the online application system on the SUNY KOREA website. The number of applicants per year is only recruited once for the fall semester, and the admission schedule may vary depending on the year of admission and other school admission-related circumstances. All applications must be sutmitted through the SUNY Korea website. Students are recruited one a year, during Fall semester only.

Deadlines and required documents are subject to change according to the adjustments made in the university’s policies

Eligibility

  • Current high school seniors
  • High School graduates
  • Obtained GED or equivalent test

Required Documents

  1. 1High School Transcript
    • a. Transfer applicants: Applicants with less than 24 college credits must submit college transcript and high school transcripts
    • b. GED applicants are highly advised to submit other supplementary documents
  2. 2Personal Statement
    • a. Completed within the online application page and must be 750 words or less
    • b. Applicants with gap year(s) are highly recommended to explain
    • c. Optional essays may be submitted through the online application

      • Official reporting through the testing agency must be completed by the application deadline
      • Copies of test scores must be uploaded in the online application
      • Submitting a standardized English test score may be waived if:
        • Applicant has completed 4 years of high school where English is the primary language of instruction
  4. 4Fashion Design Portfolio - Fashion Design Major ONLY Uploaded to a link provided after application submission
    • Fashion Design Portfolio Guideline

      *Deadlines listed on the portfolio guideline pertain to the FIT NY Campus

    • 4 different projects assigned by FIT NY
    • Comprised of 1 essay, 2 design projects, 1 sewing project

Supplementary Documents (Optional)

Other documents such as SAT, ACT, AP/IB,College Scholastic Ability Test, high school portfolio, certificates, award, etc. may be submitted.

Please Note:

  • All submitted documents should be issued in English.
  • Documents issued in a different language should be translated and notarized.
  • Scholarship/Financial Aid applications must be submitted with the online application

Other Important Information About FIT Admissions

Document Review Admissions

All FIT applications will be reviewed based on the submitted documents only. Therefore, there is no separate test or interview.

First Choice Major Only

Applicants must choose one major when applying to FIT. However, applicants may withdraw their application to apply for another major.

Portfolio Review

Fashion Design applicants must submit a portfolio online. The portfolio is one of the most important documents for Fashion Design applicants.
