Academic Transcripts/ International Credential Evaluation
At SUNY Korea, we welcome international applicants to join a community shaped by creativity, curiosity, and unconventional minds. If you attended secondary or post-secondary school(s) outside the United States or South Korea, please review the international credential evaluation requirements below carefully as part of your application process.
Applicants who attended secondary or post-secondary school(s) outside the United States or South Korea must submit a credential evaluation prepared by a member of the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES). This evaluation is required for admissions review and must be based on official authenticated academic credentials.
FIT only accepts evaluations based on official authenticated credentials, as must be stated on the evaluation report. Provisional evaluations, evaluations based only on scans or photocopies without further verification, or other unverified academic documents will not be accepted.
Academic Transcripts/ International Credential Evaluation
To ensure that your evaluation includes all information required by FIT, please submit the correct report type based on your academic background.
For secondary education credentials where transfer credit is not expected, please provide a general or document-by document evaluation.
The evaluation must include:
U.S. equivalency of your credential(s)
Cumulative Grade Point Average (GPA)
Copies of all documents, issued in English or translated into English
The month and year of any diploma awarded
PLEASE NOTE: If all documents are not included in the evaluation, in English, a course-by-course report is required.
For post-secondary education and/or secondary education where transfer credit may be awarded (for example, GCE AS/A levels) and all other credentials, please provide a course-by-course evaluation. A course-by-course evaluation must show course title, U.S. credit equivalent, and U.S. grade equivalent.
The evaluation must include:
U.S. equivalency for each school credential
Cumulative Grade Point Average (GPA) for each school credential
The month and year of completion for any secondary or post-secondary degrees conferred
All schools attended must be listed on the NACES member application.
Submission Instructions
Applicants should choose a NACES member agency, follow that agency’s country-specific document instructions, and request that the official evaluation report be sent for admissions review. Because document collection and verification may take time, applicants are strongly encouraged to begin the evaluation process early.
The general process is as follows:
1Select a NACES member evaluator and designate SUNY Korea FIT as the report recipient.
2Submit official academic records according to the evaluator’s document requirements.
3The evaluator reviews, verifies, and prepares the credential evaluation report.
4The official evaluation report must be submitted directly from the evaluator to the Admissions Office for application review.
5This evaluated report serves as the student’s official academic record.
Important Information
*FIT requirements may differ from the evaluator’s country-specific requirements. Evaluations constitute non-binding advisory opinions only. Where FIT's assessment of any credential(s) differs from that the evaluator, FIT makes all final determinations regarding course/grade/credit/GPA equivalencies, degree equivalencies, and the award of any transfer credit for coursework completed (as provided in FIT's transfer credit evaluation).
**International credential evaluation reports must be submitted to the Admissions Office directly from the agency by the appropriate deadline in order to complete their application. The evaluation process may take several months to complete, and it is recommended to begin this process no later than 6-8 weeks before the deadline. Failure to do so may result in a late review of the application or denial of admission due to insufficient academic records.
