Fall 2025 Rematriculation 

  • Period: March 31, 2025 – August 14, 2025


[Procedure]

  1. Submit the Rematriculation Form through the Google Form HERE.
    *Rematriculation form is attached to this page.
  2. Pay $50 rematriculation fee through your SOLAR account if you took two or more semesters of leave.

  3. If you need academic advising, you must arrange a meeting with your department coordinator.
  4. The rematriculation process takes 1-2 business days. If you do not receive an email, it means your rematriculation has been successfully processed. We will contact you if any revisions to the forms are required.
     

*Any incomplete form may result in rejection and a delay in the process. Please ensure that you submit the forms with accurate information by following the sample below.*

  • All the information should be filled out in English.
  • College Type:  CEAS - AMS, CS, ECE, ME, TS / COB - BM
  • REQT: Returning Term
  • EGT: Expected Graduation Term
  • Military Leave (Exemption): Check the box if you wish to revert your requirement term to the initial term. This exemption only applies to students who immediately take military leave and return directly to the term following their discharge.
  • SOLAR Password Reset: If you forget your SOLAR password, please select 'Online via SOLAR Trouble Ticket' to receive a new password.
  • Student Signature: The Student's signature is required twice on the form. 
  • Date: Students must fill out the date on which they submit this form. Any discrepancy between the written date and the actual submission date will result in the form being rejected and requiring revision.

If a student wishes to declare a different major than what was previously pursued, s/he must be accepted into the new major by submitting the appropriate document(s). Students wishing to declare a new major within CEAS should consult a CEAS advisor in the Engineering Building, room 231. REQT - Please indicate the term the student will re-enroll at Stony Brook: Term (choose one) Winter Spring Summer Fall Year 20 Students who do not attend the semester in which they rematriculate are not eligible to enroll for future semesters. These students must follow the Rematriculation Process for the new semester in which they plan on attending. Rematriculation Form and $50 Rematriculation fee is required. Students who are currently Suspended or Dismissed, must also petition for a Reinstatement through their Academic Advising Office. Rematriculation will not be processed without approval and submission of Reinstatement. (See page 2 for Academic Advising Office information) I have received the Rematriculation Information Sheet and acknowledge that it is my responsibility to visit my academic advisor for advisement and to obtain information on graduation requirements, as well as reviewing, understanding, and abiding by the University's regulations, procedures, requirements, and deadlines as described in official publications. Students Initials Required: Students rematriculating in the first fall/spring semester immediately following mandatory military service, may request an exception to follow requirements in effect at the time of their leave. To be eligible for such consideration, students must provide documentation demonstrating the start and end date of their service. [Important Notes]

  1. Students who take a leave of absence for two or more semesters will be assigned a new requirement term and will be responsible for meeting the new curriculum in effect at the time of their return. (SBU Bulletin)
  2. Requirement Term Exemption for Military Leave (Effective Fall 2023): The exemption to revert the requirement term to the initial requirement term applies only to students who immediately take military leave and return directly to the term following their discharge. To verify eligibility for the exemption, students must submit their Military Document (병적증명서) within 2 weeks of their discharge date.
    How to get the Certificate of Military Service document?
    The form can be received from the Government official website (정부24) or Military Manpower Administration (병무청).
  3. A $50 rematriculation fee is required if you took two or more semesters of leave. The fee must be paid through your SOLAR account.

  4. Any negative effect holds may restrict the rematiruclation process. Please make sure you do not have any holds on your account.
  5. Students' NetID and Stony Brook email will be activated once the form is processed. 
  6. If you were a scholarship recipient during the term you took a leave, you must also fill out the Scholarship Reinstatement Form. Detailed information can be found HERE.
  7. If you require academic reinstatement or a 3rd+ retake for a course, contact your department coordinator as soon as possible.
