SKAP 220: Policy and Procedure for Transfer from SBU to SUNY Korea
Procedure
Advising with SBU advisor: Students must complete an advising session with their assigned advisor at Stony Brook University (e.g., CEAS, COB) prior to initiating the transfer process.
Submission of Transfer Application Form: Following the advising session and confirmation of intent to transfer, the Office of Academic and Faculty Affairs will provide the student with the Transfer Application Form. The student must complete and submit the Transfer Application Form.
Departmental Review by SUNY Korea: Upon receipt of the application, the respective Department Chair at SUNY Korea will conduct a comprehensive review. The department may require an interview as part of the evaluation process if deemed necessary.
Notification of Decision and Administrative Processing: The final decision will be determined by the respective department at SUNY Korea and formally communicated to the student and the student’s SBU advisor. All subsequent administrative procedures will be processed in accordance with institutional policies.
Policy
The transfer decision is final and cannot be reversed once a student transfers from SBU to SUNY Korea. The transferring student must sign a SUNY Korea document certifying that they forfeit the opportunity to return to SBU after the transfer is completed.
Students who transfer from SBU to SUNY Korea are not required to complete the one-year residency at SBU.
Note
The process is specific to the transfer from SBU to SUNY Korea because such a transfer operates in the “same system” of academic record keeping, but on a different campus after the transfer.
The process and policy do not apply to SBU students who study abroad at SUNY Korea.
