[Call for Applications] 2026 12th DB GAPS Investment Competition (May 8)

We are excited to introduce the 2026 12th DB GAPS Investment Competition, hosted by the DB Kim Jun-ki Cultural Foundation and organized by DB Financial Investment.

This competition is designed to promote sound investment practices and provide university students with the opportunity to develop their own investment philosophy through a global asset allocation strategy. Selected participants will gain hands-on experience in portfolio construction, reporting, and presentation, and top-performing teams will also have the opportunity to visit CES in Las Vegas.

Eligibility

  • Teams consisting of 3 undergraduate or graduate students
  • Students who are currently enrolled or on a leave of absence as of the Spring 2026 semester
  • For graduate students, only those in a master’s program or in an integrated master’s-doctoral program up to the 4th semester are eligible to participate.

 

Competition Format

[Simulated Investment Format]

  • The competition will be conducted over 3 months period, during which participants build and manage a portfolio composed of major domestic assets.
  • Each team consists of 3 members, and 1 domestic account will be provided per team.
  • Portfolio allocation will be managed through the team leader’s account, and team returns will be calculated based on domestic NAV.

* Detailed competition guidelines will be announced separately through the advance briefing session.

 

Competition Process

  • Applications Deadline: May 8, 2026 (Fri), 12:00 PM
  • Pre-Competition Briefing: Mid-May 2026 (time and venue to be announced)
  • Investment Plan Preparation & Submission: May 11, 2026 (Mon) – May 28, 2026 (Thu)
  • Portfolio Management Period: June 1, 2026 (Mon) – August 31, 2026 (Mon), for 3 months
  • Debate Competition Orientation: September 18, 2026 (Fri)
  • Debate Competition & Awards Ceremony: October 2, 2026 (Fri)
  • CES Visit: Early January 2027 (planned for approximately 6 nights and 8 days)

 

Awards & Recognition

  • Team Awards: Prizes will be awarded to teams ranked 1st to 30th based on portfolio returns.
  • Among the top 30 teams by returns, 10 outstanding teams will be selected based on portfolio performance, investment philosophy, and submitted reports.
  • Among the 10 selected teams, the top 4 teams will advance to a final presentation and debate round, after which the final rankings and award categories will be determined.

* Preferential consideration in the document screening stage for DB Securities job applications will be granted to award-winning teams (Grand Prize, Best Prize, Excellence Prize, and Encouragement Prize winners; 10 teams total).

** Eligibility to apply for the Foundations masters and doctoral scholarship program will be granted to award-winning teams (Grand Prize, Best Prize, Excellence Prize, and Encouragement Prize winners; 10 teams total).
