Student Visa (D-2)

International students without Korean citizenship/valid residence visa who will stay in Korea to study at SUNY Korea must be a student visa (D-2) holder. Please refer to the information below regarding the application process for your student visa.

Visa Application Process

VISA PROCESS
  • D-2 visa grant notice:
    • D-2 visa grant notice is valid for 90 days after it is issued, which means that you are required to arrive in Korea within 90 days of your D-2 visa grant issuance date.
  • Arrival in Korea:
    • International students with D-2 visas are allowed to arrive in Korea starting 30 days before the semester starts. To avoid any schedule conflict, we ask you to schedule your arrival date accordingly.
  • Residence Card (RC):
    • International students must apply for the RC within 90 days of their arrival in Korea
    • For the new students, the Student Services Team will support the application process at the International Student Orientation during the New Student Welcome Week
    • Please note that it usually takes approximately 8 weeks to receive the RC

  • The University provides:
  • Students need to prepare:
    • Valid passport (valid for at least 6 months beyond the date of the application)
    • 1 copy of your passport photo page
    • Passport photo (3.5cm x 4.5cm) taken within 6 months
    • Official Transcript
    • Proof of Finance: a bank statement that confirms the possession of 20,000,000 KRW in your bank account

      *All documentation should be dated less than 30 days before the time you intend to submit it.

      ** If you are submitting a bank statement of a family member, please provide proof of family relations.

    • Application Fee: Varies depending on the embassy/consulate in your home country

Certificate of Admission (CoA)

Certificate of Admission (CoA) is one of the required documents for D-2 visa applicants. According to Korean Immigration Law, the university can only issue the CoA once the university receives the following documents.

Send the original documents of the following list to our mailing address - Academic Building A208, SUNY Korea, 119-2 Songdo Moonhwa-Ro, Yeonsu-gu, Incheon, Republic of Korea (21985)

  • Proof of Finance: a bank statement that confirms the possession of 20,000,000 KRW in your bank account

    *All documentation should be dated less than 30 days before the time you intend to submit it.

    **If you submit a bank statement of a family member, please provide proof of family relations.

  • Graduation Certificate: Your latest academic graduation certificate.
    • If you graduated in Korea: Original graduation certificate required
    • If you graduated in China: Original degree certification report issued by China High Education Student Information (CHSI) required
    • If you graduated in other countries: Apostille/Consulate authentication required
